To Noel
"To Noel" is a memorial to my friend and mentor Noel Mahaffey. It is a branch, tied onto a highly polished copper box that is covered in copper foil, with copper wire. Not knowing the significance of the copper at the time, but feeling compelled to use just that element in the above forms, I was delighted to later discover the universal reputation of copper as a healing agent. I feel that this piece embodied a prayer for Noel.
