Tears- Side Two
Tears of Islam was my first two-sided piece.I had not planned it to be so, but could not keep from reaching around to the other side while working. Side Two is clearly about grief. What can be glimpsed through the shredded photographs in Side One, is laid bare here, and in your face. In actuality, it is merely a burlap bag hanging over the straw matting, glimpsed in the layers of Side One, and draped with velvet strips. I did not consciously create a piece about mourning, but know that is what this is.
